straight outta the opera

January 28, 2018

"Ceramics and its Dimensions" is the title of the exhibition now open at Bröhan Museum Berlin. Naturally, the reverberation gallery of Berlin's State Opera, made of phosphate ceramic (CBPC), takes center stage. At the moment, there is no place you can get closer to the reverberation gallery than at the Bröhan Museum, where a 1:1 model is exhibited.

We are happy to announce to be the winners of this year's Materialpreis with our design of the State Opera's reverberation gallery. The design gently interprets the original building. "To apply such a good design solution for a necessity, to solve such a special task in such an ingenious way deserves great respect," the Jury states. We feel honored and proud!

State Opera Berlin: reverberation gallery installed

July 11, 2016

In the last weeks, a central element of the Opera’s refurbishment was realized: the reverberation gallery. To improve the acoustics of the auditorium, the historic ceiling was lifted up by approx. 5 m. The open diamond-shaped composite ceramic pattern frames the gallery optically without interfering with the original design vocabulary of the auditorium. This measure improves the acoustic of the Opera significantly.
